Seen Pigs Fly

I have never seen pigs fly.... that is until today. While traveling through a group of small towns in northern Georgia, I saw quite a few antique shops along the little two lane highway. From Freehome to Macedonia and then on to Lathemtown I drove, all the while glancing at the local shops. All called to me, and yet I didn't stop until I saw pigs fly. Yes, I know you won't believe me until you too see the photos, so here they are. Another reason I stopped was because the name of the little store was just too perfect. It is called "The Green Bean Exchange. You just can't get a better name than that! They have all these wonderful and fun sculptures outside, but inside there were also some beautiful antiques, like an old washing machine with a crank to wring the water out of the clothes, along with some beautiful antique furniture, and quaint little trinkets throughout. The best part of the whole thing was seeing pigs fly!

Paint a Mural

Painting is fun and painting with others is a great experience. So, when I had a chance to paint a mural, I enjoyed it tremendously! This is a painting of a real place in Mexico called Coyoacan. It is the main plaza in town with a fountain of wolves. This was so much fun, I am looking for a new wall to paint a mural as soon as possible! In Atlanta we have an event happening this week called "Living Walls" and artist from all over the world come to Atlanta to express their art and make our city beautiful with street art. Visit San Diego, California

San Diego is one of the most beautiful cities in California! It is well worth the visit. Not only is the weather perfect year round, but there are beautiful beaches, marinas, and water related sports to enjoy everywhere! Balboa Park and Gardens is a must, and Old Town San Diego is quaint and beautiful! If you have the courage and the time, cross over to Tijuana (preferably during the day) and enjoy some wonderful Mexican food and shopping! See Old Missions that have been there for hundreds of years and enjoy whale watching in the bay and out to sea in the beautiful Pacific. Just sitting and enjoying the sailboats sail the bay is exceedingly lovely.

Finish a Painting in One Day

I don't usually finish a painting in one day, but I did this one. I used acrylic paints because they dry much faster. It wasn't a small painting either. The size is 3 x 2 feet (90 x 60 cm) It took a long time but well worth it. I love to paint trees. This one is full of color as a symbol of the life trees give us. It's title is "Color Wrap".

Go Whitewater Rafting

There is an exciting fun summer activity that I was a little reluctant to try, but am glad I did. Whitewater rafting is so much fun. Of course having a guide to help you down the river and through the rapids makes things safer than setting off on your own so we got ourselves a guide. Mike was a fun guide and told us things about the river and the surrounding area. In the Smoky Mountains there are many rivers to enjoy the sport of whitewater rafting. It is something I want to do over and over again!

I am third (back of picture in yellow) on the right side of the boat that looks like its down in the water, next to Mike the guide. Yes, I yelled through all the rapids it was so much fun! What a great time!

Help out with a project to build a 2-story cardboard house...

The Lucky Penny (Blake Beckham and Melina Rodrigues) along with many volunteers, are working on a project at Georgia Tech called Threshold, a two-story house made out of cardboard to provide a dance space for a contemporary dance. The composer is Santigo Paramo and the dancers are all so very wonderful! The architects (Mack Scogin and Merril Elam) are working to help build this two-story cardboard house with the help of volunteers.
I have never helped out with a project that involves so many interesting elements. It was a joy to be there today to see all the enthusiasm and commitment everyone brings to this project! The show will run from August the 16th through August the 19th, so be sure and try and see it if you live in Atlanta.
